    Every Minecraft Server Gamemode

Minecraft multiplayer offers dozens of unique gamemodes. Whether you're a builder, fighter, explorer, or strategist, there's a server type for you. Here's every major gamemode explained.

    Survival-Based Gamemodes

    Survival / SMP

The classic Minecraft experience with other players. Mine, build, farm, and explore in a shared world. Most popular gamemode on any server list.

    Hardcore

Survival with one life. Die and you're out — either permanently or for a set time. Adds real consequences to every decision.

    Lifesteal

Kill players to steal their hearts. Die and lose hearts. Hit zero hearts and get banned. One of the trendiest gamemodes in 2025-2026.

    Towny

Create or join towns, build together, and manage a community within the server. Towns can form nations and engage in diplomacy or war.

    Semi-Vanilla

Survival with quality-of-life plugins (homes, teleporting, land claims) but no major gameplay changes. The sweet spot for most players.

    PvP Gamemodes

    KitPvP

Choose a kit and fight. Quick respawns, no grinding. Pure combat skill.

    Factions

Form teams, build bases, raid enemies. Combines PvP, strategy, and base building.

    Prison

Mine in ranked mines to earn money and rank up. Eventually gain freedom. PvP in designated areas.

    UHC (Ultra Hardcore)

No natural regeneration. Golden apples and potions only. Last team standing wins.

    HCF (Hardcore Factions)

Factions with death bans, limited lives, and intense competition. One of the most hardcore PvP experiences.

    Minigame Gamemodes

    Bedwars

Protect your bed, collect resources, and destroy enemy beds. One of the most popular competitive minigames.

    Skywars

Spawn on floating islands, loot chests, and fight. Last player alive wins.

    Murder Mystery

One player is the murderer, one is the detective. Everyone else tries to survive.

    Build Battle

Competitive building in a timed round. Players vote on the best builds.

    TNT Run / Spleef

Run on platforms that break behind you. Last player standing wins.

    Creative Gamemodes

    Creative / Plotworld

Get a plot of land and build whatever you want with unlimited resources. Popular for architects and builders.

    Roleplay

Create characters and act out stories in custom-built worlds. Cities, schools, medieval kingdoms — the variety is endless.

    Redstone

Dedicated servers for redstone engineering. Build contraptions, computers, and machines.

    Adventure Gamemodes

    Skyblock

Start on a tiny island and expand using limited resources. Complete challenges and level up your island.

    OneBlock

Similar to Skyblock, but you start with just one block that regenerates into different resources as you mine it.

    Parkour

Navigate obstacle courses by jumping between blocks. Servers range from easy to impossible difficulty.

    Earth / GeoPolitic

The Minecraft world is shaped like real Earth. Claim land where real countries exist and build nations.

    Pixelmon

Minecraft meets Pokémon. Catch, train, and battle Pokémon in the Minecraft world.

    Anarchy

No rules. No bans. No protection. The internet's most chaotic Minecraft experience.

    BoxPvP

Fight in a small enclosed box with custom items and abilities. Fast-paced and unique.

    SkyPvP

PvP on floating islands with void below. Fall off and you're dead.

    Dungeons / RPG

Custom mobs, bosses, classes, skills, and loot. Turn Minecraft into an MMO-like experience.
