Best Uptime Minecraft Servers — Most Reliable Servers
Minecraft servers ranked by measured uptime percentage. Our monitoring pings every server multiple times per hour. See which servers maintain 99%+ availability.
About This Ranking
Uptime is the most fundamental quality metric for any server. It doesn't matter how many features a server advertises if it's offline when you want to play. This page ranks Minecraft servers by measured uptime percentage over the trailing 30-day period — every percentage point represents real monitoring data, not promises.
In 2026, the servers at the top of this ranking maintain 99.5%+ uptime, which translates to less than 3.6 hours of total downtime per month. That's professional-grade reliability. Compare that to the median Minecraft server, which typically hovers around 92-96% uptime — potentially 15-30 hours of downtime per month, usually concentrated during peak play times when it matters most.
Our monitoring infrastructure pings each server using the Minecraft protocol multiple times per hour from geographically distributed nodes. When a server fails to respond, we attempt multiple retries before marking it offline. Short blips (under 2 minutes) are filtered out to avoid penalizing servers for routine restarts. What remains is genuine, sustained availability data.
Uptime matters most for servers where you're investing long-term. Survival, SMP, economy, and building servers — modes where your progress accumulates over weeks and months — need reliable hosting. A server that crashes during your build session or goes offline during a trade is more than inconvenient; it breaks the trust that keeps communities together.
Ranking Methodology
Uptime is calculated as: (total time server responded to pings ÷ total time monitored) × 100.
Each server is pinged via the standard Minecraft Server List Ping protocol at intervals no greater than 5 minutes. Failed pings trigger immediate retries at 30-second intervals. A server is marked "offline" only after 3 consecutive failed pings (minimum 1.5 minutes of non-response).
The 30-day rolling window means the ranking reflects recent performance, not historical. A server that was 100% available six months ago but has been crashing weekly for the past month will show degraded uptime. This responsiveness ensures the ranking is actionable.
Planned maintenance is not excluded from uptime calculations. From a player's perspective, the server being down for "planned maintenance" still means you can't play. Servers at the top of this ranking manage their maintenance windows to minimize impact.
Servers monitored for fewer than 7 days are excluded from this ranking to prevent newly listed servers from appearing with artificially high (or low) uptime based on a small sample.
How Servers Compare
When comparing servers by uptime, the differences become practical at specific thresholds:
**99.5%+ Uptime** — Professional-grade. Less than 3.6 hours of downtime per month. These servers run on dedicated hardware or premium hosting with automated restart systems and monitoring alerts. Your stuff is always accessible.
**98-99.5% Uptime** — Reliable. Occasional downtime (7-15 hours/month) that you'll notice but that won't ruin your experience. Typically caused by host-level issues or the occasional crash that takes a few hours to notice and fix.
**95-98% Uptime** — Functional but shaky. 15-36 hours of downtime per month means you'll regularly find the server offline when you want to play. Often indicates a server run on budget hosting or by admins who don't have automated monitoring.
**Below 95% Uptime** — Unreliable. More than 36 hours of downtime per month. At this level, you should expect random disconnections and lost play sessions. Not recommended for any mode where progress matters.
Server location can affect perceived uptime. A server with 99.9% uptime but hosted in Singapore won't help you if you're in Brazil and the routing between continents drops packets. Consider both uptime and geographic proximity.
